Harry Potter all the way. I was about the throw the 6th book when they got to the cave. It was lit by moonlight and glowed silver and if Dumbledore had said "oh, its simple, speak friend and enter" the book would have gone flying. I see the Dementors like Ringwriaths. But none of the character really jump out at me as "oh that really *insert other name here*". I see that they are the same, but not in all ways. Some of it just gets to me at times though.

Come to think of it, I do make comments about things being like Lord of the Rings, but recently it was stuff that Tolkien probably read. Like the Anglo-Saxon poem "The Wanderer" has a speech that starts "'Where has the horse gone? Where is the young warrior?...'" So its not so much that I have read recent books, its more like I have read older things that make me make references.

I can kind of see where a character from a book loved called Crown Duel sounds, at times, a little like Faramir. Oh! But that has the Hill Folk! They are like Ents but more human looking. That always gets me when I read that book. And the Faramir like character looks more like movie Legolas.
